I hope everyone is doing well!

This is a check-in post! You do not have to check in if you don't want to and there are no requirements for what you need to check in with. This is your space, so have at!

I have a take-home test that I can thankfully finish in class today because I didn't have time to work on it...

Hello, everyone! This is your (slightly belated) weekly check-in post. I apologize for being two days late, but I was unlucky enough to catch a nice flu bug that's going around town. :( I haven't been able to get much writing done myself because of that, so I'm hoping you guys have had more luck than me lately.

How is everyone doing with their bunnies? Right now mine seem to be breeding. *sigh*

Since I'll actually have some free time this November instead of prepping for finals, I'm thinking of signing up for NaNoWriMo, and actually prepping in October. I'm actually not sure how to prep, since I've really prepped before. Should be interesting.

Anyway, please feel free to check in, or not- no pressure. We're here to help.

Optional discussion question: I may have asked something like this in the past, but I have a bit of brain fog. Do you have a method for deciding if a bunny is going to be written or finished, or is it different with each one?

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a lovely day. I come to you with a humble request for assistance because my characters are being stubborn. (And lo, no author was surprised that day.)

I need help figuring out the end of Act 1 in my current medieval(ish) fantasy short story.

Here's the situation. You're a warrior from a kingdom where magic is outlawed, sent to hunt down and bring back the head of a witch who has made an (unsuccessful) attempt on the prince's life. You find her deep in the forest, coaxing a plant back to life under her hands. Inexplicably, she knows your name before you say a word to her. (Creepy.)

You shoot three arrows at her: the first two hit her but she's not affected like a normal person would be, and the third one she redirects with a wave of her hand and it falls to the ground. She says if you try anything more extreme (like decapitation or fire-setting) she'll kill you, but if you turn around now and leave her alone, she won't hurt you. However, you know that if you return to your kingdom without proof of the witch's death, the court will have you executed for failing to perform your duty to the crown.

What do you do, and why?

ETA: You people are wonderful! I think I know roughly where I'm going with this. Will post the link here when I'm done.

Hello, fellow bunny-killers, long time no see. *waves*

Life has been busy lately, but I've managed to get a bit of writing done in spite of it all. I've signed up for Spook Me ([personal profile] spook_me ), which is my favourite Hallowe'en ficathon, and the only time of the year when I will legit attempt to write horror, even though I am terrible at it. I just have so much fun with Spook Me, and the prompts they send me are always top notch. They never fail to inspire me.

This year, I've decided to pick up a very old zombie AU wip-of-a-plot-bunny that's taken on several iterations over its long life. I'm hoping it'll finally get written - and finished - this time round. I've also decided to be brave and sign up for two fics, just because another ghost fic idea kept pestering me, and now it's basically staring at me, challenging me to not finish it because it won't be very long but oh gods it's a bit intimidating trying to make sure it works the way I want it to work. D:

I know Yuletide's just around the corner, too, though I've never participated. My fandoms are all too small for Yuletide. /fandom of one problems Is anyone going to participate this year, or for any other challenges that are coming up? Anyone planning to do NaNoWriMo?

Your optional prompt for this week is: What's the longest time it's taken you to finish a WIP? I think my record is five years, and it was for a oneshot. I originally handwrote half-a-draft on a piece of paper, then lost it, then found it, then kept losing it, until I finally just sat down and typed it again from scratch a couple of years ago to fill a bingo square, just so it would stop bugging me. At least it finally got finished? XD

September has begun and that means it's weekly check-in time! Tell us about your current goals, your project(s), or whatever's going on with your writing. If you need prompts, advice, or a deadline to keep you focused, ask away!

Totally optional sort-of-discussion topic: without explanation or context, post one sentence from your current project involving the word "hands."

(Let's do this a couple hours early...)

Just a reminder - this is your community, too. Feel free to use it to ask for advice, vent, commiserate, celebrate, etc.

It is a new month! It is time, if you need or want to revise your list, to revise your list! There is nothing wrong with keeping all your bunnies, but it is also okay to let go.

This is also a weekly check-in! You do not have to check in, of course, but if you would like to comment on the last week, feel free!

If you have a deadline coming up, you can do it! If you need a deadline, feel free to ask!

I started up a 'mirror' community over on Imzy, if anyone is over there and wants to hang out. I'm going for a slightly-less-structured version of [community profile] onedeadplotbunny over there with a broader project reach, but who knows what will happen?

(if you don't have an imzy account yet, the site is in a closed-beta and will require an invite. there should be a request button on the community and I'll approve/send asap)

Hello, all! This is your weekly check-in!

So how goes your writing this week, folks? Any deadlines accomplished? Any deadlines looming that you need a nudge on?

(Not my usual spot, but I noticed there's been another couple of weeks of silence, so just thought I'd toss this up while I was thinking about it.)

Hello again. I'm sure at least a few of you remember me! It's been months since I last visited. ^^; Really long story short; back in January of this year, I noticed something that was really wrong, that at least CBS, ABC, and NBC News did investigative reports about, before all of mainstream media news had went quiet after this government agency (FEMA) got busted for trying to cover-up their past rotten scheme. They were doing nothing about the thousands of innocent people become seriously ill due to long exposure of formaldehyde from the trailers FEMA gave to them. The reports were aired in 2007. I saw a documentary on the aftermath of this failed cover-up, uploaded on YouTube in late August of last year. I looked, and looked, and looked but there was nothing on mainstream media about the researcher and medical anthropologist. Nicholas Shapiro is his name. He tracked the trailers down and helped people who were sill living in them, uninformed of unsafe formaldehyde levels.

That's when my journey to gathering knowledge and helping to influence major positive change toward humanity began.

Along the way, I've written a bunch of poetry! Some of it's been political satire, and some of them just fall into a miscellaneous category. If my Kingdom Hearts muses are still interested, then sure, I'll go back to focusing on an all new fan-fiction - a really interesting and powerful concept of one at that.

I'll share my poem about the three certain muses of mine. All the many others in Nexus Head-space must have been busying themselves with things. lol

It's time once again for our weekly check-in. How has everyone's week been? Any deadlines looming or brainstorming you need to do?

I've been a little unproductive this week, but I have figured out a plot point I was stuck on, so that's been helpful. I've added about 1500 words now, which is better than nothing.

Your optional task this week is to attempt to summarise one of your WIPs in a haiku.

For the novel I'm currently working on, mine would be:
To follow a god
With strangers through barren lands
A city is lost.

Time for the weekly check-in, all you lovely people. How's it going? Do you need some help brainstorming, or encouragement with a deadline? Do you have special writing plans for the summer, or is it more of business as usual?

Totally optional sort-of discussion topic: without explanation or context, give us the last sentence you've written on your current project.

So how goes your writing this week, folks? Any deadlines accomplished? Any deadlines looming that you need a nudge on?

(And my sincere apologies for being several days late. My only excuse is that last week, my brain was kind of checked-out from the before and after of meeting my personal hero at MegaCon. *g*)

 Hello, ODPBers!

Late check in is late because RL hit me pretty hard the last fortnight and I am still recovering, but I hope your writing has gone better than mine. I was aiming to write every day this month, but I've fallen behind, and now I'm playing catch-up. I did manage a couple of thousand words on a couple of my current projects, so I'm happy with that.

Let us know how you've been going. Have you had any successes you'd like to report? Have you gathered up more bunnies you don't need? Do you need any brainstorming, beta request, or research help? Any deadlines coming up?

Our discussion topic today is about music. Do you make soundtracks for your stories to keep you going as you're working? Do certain songs remind you of things you've written, even though it might be years since they were written? Do you have any good writing songs or playlists? Or do you prefer to write to silence or instrumental music instead?

Bonus discussion topic: do you prefer writing stories inspired by another person's or community's prompts, or would you rather work on projects that come purely from your own ideas?

Welcome to the second week of April, ODPBers! I hope your writing week has been better than mine. When I haven't been mentally busy with work, I have managed all of 800 words on a novel I am determined to finish this year. But at least it's better than no progress. I also have another story I'm pondering, but it requires a bit of finagling to make it work the way I want it to work, and so it might have to just stew in my head until the set-up becomes plausible enough to start work on it.

Let us know how you're going, whether you've finished anything, need some help brainstorming, or picked up a few more bunnies you definitely don't need (this is me, hi!). Even if you've only written 800 words all week like I have, it's better than nothing. Celebrate the successes, no matter how small they may seem.

This week's optional discussion topic is about world-building: is it the thing you love most about writing, or would you rather just get the story down, and worry about the details later? How do you go about it, and how do you juggle several different worlds at once, and keep everything straight in your head? Do you have any favourite world-building resources you'd like to share with us?
misslucyjane: (plot bunny)

Check-in time! How are your projects going? Any deadlines you need to meet? Any prompts you'd like to request?

Optional discussion topic: Share and/or talk about your first sentence. How does it set the stage? Do you like short and pithy or long and rambly? Do you have a stock first sentence* just to get yourself going, or do you rewrite it until it's perfect, or do you wait to start the story until you know what that first sentence will be?

* No lie, for a while I started every Avengers fic with "It was all Tony's fault." It only stayed on one, though :D.
