I didn't realize I'd missed last week-- whoops! Since there's an extra Wednesday this month, let's have the Check-In post a smidge early and use it for general November-End/December-Start things.

This is a check-in post! You do not have to check in if you don't want to and there are no requirements for what you need to check in with. This is your space, so have at!

Feel free to talk about success, frustration, current projects, nagging projects, exciting projects, and everything else going on.

I think by now my thoughts on the holidays are pretty clear-- do what you can do when you can, but the holiday season gets hectic and it's okay. Good luck with everything. ^_^

I don't know how many of you know about doing "morning pages" but, for those who don't know, I'll explain.

Basically, you write 3 pages first thing in the morning of anything that pops in your head, to clear your mental blockages so you can get on with your day without carrying unnecessary mental "baggage". It also helps you develop the habit of shutting down your inner editor while writing, and to write something everyday, regardless of the quality. And doing in the morning means you're approaching it with a fresh brain too. :)

Even if the only thing you can write for your morning pages is "I don't know what to say; this is stupid and I feel stupid for doing this," just keep going based on that. You can go on whatever little tangents you want to because no one will see it.

You can also choose to do it by hand or on computer. For those of you who dread the ache in your hand that may occur and are bewildered at the thought of yet ANOTHER word doc in your comp, there's a website called 750words, where you can write and save those morning pages. Signup's quick, the site's free for the first month ($5 monthly donation after that), it's totally private, and it's even got an automatic word counter for ya. And yeah, I'm using it myself.

I've found that doing the morning pages is a huge boost to my writerly self, so I thought I'd share the idea for anybody who's struggling with writer's block and their inner perfectionist too.

And, yeah, I just finished my morning pages. Turns out my stream of consciousness has a major potty-mouth. LOL!

However you do your morning pages is up to you, but it DEFINITELY will help with your productivity.

I know the world is a little weird right now and holiday-hectic might be setting in. Do what you can when you can and don't worry too much.

Hello, fellow writers! This is your weekly check-in, so feel free to let us know how you've gone this week, and/or vent about the US election, either will do. (This Australian hopes you are all okay.)

I've been busy with family and NaNoWriMo for the past couple of weeks, so my bunnies have been somewhat neglected of late. But I am up to 17.2k words for NaNo, and for some reason, my novel has become a Titans vs Olympians redux death match I wonder where I am getting this inspiration from. :/ :/ :/ So that's ... an unexpected turn of events. But I'll run with it. Sure! let's see where this takes me.

At least I'm ahead of where I'm meant to be, and it's better than being stuck, so. I am very much pantsing this novel, so it is going in weird directions, but it's okay! I have three characters now! I started with one! And now an epic mythical war that the gods might lose, but hey, it's getting the words down so I don't much care right now. I have other things I'd like to work on but they're not high on the priority list while NaNo's going on. But once December hits, the plan is for another chapter of a rewrite project, and to finish off the other novels I didn't pick for NaNo. One is very close to being a finished first draft if I could only get them bloody moving, so. I'd like that done by the end of the year so I can then spend next year editing it wooooo.

Is everyone else having a productive time? Are your projects coming together? If you're also doing NaNoWriMo, what projects are you working on, and how well is it going for you?

Optional writing prompt: We've all got WIPs that have been sitting around for ages. If you've managed to finish one, and you're particularly proud of it for whatever reason, tell us about it! Let's share our successes, and the good things we've achieved, and what it took to get them done. Feel free to share excerpts if you like.

This is your weekly check-in, totally optional and for whatever writing topic you desire. For instance, you can ask for deadlines, prompts, or plotting help; or you can vent or celebrate how your latest project is going.

(Please forgive my lateness. I had minor surgery earlier today and this slipped my mind until my reminder app did its thing.)

Optional topic: without context or explanation, post a sentence from your current project using the word "rain."

Hello, everyone! This is your (slightly belated) weekly check-in post. I apologize for being two days late, but I was unlucky enough to catch a nice flu bug that's going around town. :( I haven't been able to get much writing done myself because of that, so I'm hoping you guys have had more luck than me lately.

How is everyone doing with their bunnies? Right now mine seem to be breeding. *sigh*

Since I'll actually have some free time this November instead of prepping for finals, I'm thinking of signing up for NaNoWriMo, and actually prepping in October. I'm actually not sure how to prep, since I've really prepped before. Should be interesting.

Anyway, please feel free to check in, or not- no pressure. We're here to help.

Optional discussion question: I may have asked something like this in the past, but I have a bit of brain fog. Do you have a method for deciding if a bunny is going to be written or finished, or is it different with each one?

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a lovely day. I come to you with a humble request for assistance because my characters are being stubborn. (And lo, no author was surprised that day.)

I need help figuring out the end of Act 1 in my current medieval(ish) fantasy short story.

Here's the situation. You're a warrior from a kingdom where magic is outlawed, sent to hunt down and bring back the head of a witch who has made an (unsuccessful) attempt on the prince's life. You find her deep in the forest, coaxing a plant back to life under her hands. Inexplicably, she knows your name before you say a word to her. (Creepy.)

You shoot three arrows at her: the first two hit her but she's not affected like a normal person would be, and the third one she redirects with a wave of her hand and it falls to the ground. She says if you try anything more extreme (like decapitation or fire-setting) she'll kill you, but if you turn around now and leave her alone, she won't hurt you. However, you know that if you return to your kingdom without proof of the witch's death, the court will have you executed for failing to perform your duty to the crown.

What do you do, and why?

ETA: You people are wonderful! I think I know roughly where I'm going with this. Will post the link here when I'm done.

Hello, fellow bunny-killers, long time no see. *waves*

Life has been busy lately, but I've managed to get a bit of writing done in spite of it all. I've signed up for Spook Me ([personal profile] spook_me ), which is my favourite Hallowe'en ficathon, and the only time of the year when I will legit attempt to write horror, even though I am terrible at it. I just have so much fun with Spook Me, and the prompts they send me are always top notch. They never fail to inspire me.

This year, I've decided to pick up a very old zombie AU wip-of-a-plot-bunny that's taken on several iterations over its long life. I'm hoping it'll finally get written - and finished - this time round. I've also decided to be brave and sign up for two fics, just because another ghost fic idea kept pestering me, and now it's basically staring at me, challenging me to not finish it because it won't be very long but oh gods it's a bit intimidating trying to make sure it works the way I want it to work. D:

I know Yuletide's just around the corner, too, though I've never participated. My fandoms are all too small for Yuletide. /fandom of one problems Is anyone going to participate this year, or for any other challenges that are coming up? Anyone planning to do NaNoWriMo?

Your optional prompt for this week is: What's the longest time it's taken you to finish a WIP? I think my record is five years, and it was for a oneshot. I originally handwrote half-a-draft on a piece of paper, then lost it, then found it, then kept losing it, until I finally just sat down and typed it again from scratch a couple of years ago to fill a bingo square, just so it would stop bugging me. At least it finally got finished? XD

September has begun and that means it's weekly check-in time! Tell us about your current goals, your project(s), or whatever's going on with your writing. If you need prompts, advice, or a deadline to keep you focused, ask away!

Totally optional sort-of-discussion topic: without explanation or context, post one sentence from your current project involving the word "hands."

(Let's do this a couple hours early...)

Just a reminder - this is your community, too. Feel free to use it to ask for advice, vent, commiserate, celebrate, etc.

It is a new month! It is time, if you need or want to revise your list, to revise your list! There is nothing wrong with keeping all your bunnies, but it is also okay to let go.

This is also a weekly check-in! You do not have to check in, of course, but if you would like to comment on the last week, feel free!

If you have a deadline coming up, you can do it! If you need a deadline, feel free to ask!

I started up a 'mirror' community over on Imzy, if anyone is over there and wants to hang out. I'm going for a slightly-less-structured version of [community profile] onedeadplotbunny over there with a broader project reach, but who knows what will happen?

(if you don't have an imzy account yet, the site is in a closed-beta and will require an invite. there should be a request button on the community and I'll approve/send asap)

Hello, all! This is your weekly check-in!

So how goes your writing this week, folks? Any deadlines accomplished? Any deadlines looming that you need a nudge on?

(Not my usual spot, but I noticed there's been another couple of weeks of silence, so just thought I'd toss this up while I was thinking about it.)
