Since we're staring down the last two weeks of the year, I'd like to give my annual reminder to relax, do what you can when you can, and don't stress out. The holidays get hectic and everything you have going on will still be there once the season has calmed down.

You may, of course, check in at any point.

I have 42,000 words left to write before midnight on 31 December. It's a thing.

ETA: The cat parked his butt on my keyboard after I went to sleep. The file I was working on was open, since I'd just gotten too tired to type. I'd SAVED before I left the desk, but apparently, sitting on the keys forever not only fills the buffer, it wreaks some kind of esoteric mojo.

I couldn't undo the whole wreck of typing, so I closed the file to re-open the last save. Only-- CORRUPTED.

Five thousand word story, gone because my cat likes my keyboard as a butt warmer.

BACK UP YOUR DATA AGAIN, even if you think you've done it "recently enough."

Holiday shopping is almost done. I will take that for what it is worth.

Well, my computer bricked itself last night, so I'm having a spontaneous vacation from writing. Not really the plan. Hopefully the nice folks at the apple store will in fact fix it soonish.

I've been editing the NaNoWriMo unfinished thing so that it's at least coherent enough to give to a friend to tell me if it's worth pursuing! So that's something.

I got my Yuletide fic finished (which was particularly an accomplishment this year for reasons I cannot explain till after author reveals) AND a couple treats, one in Main, one in Madness. And have been semi-productive on some other projects, though not as productive on some as I should be. So sort of a mixed bag!

Made Christmas decs, phew, did a little work on my feltie. I made an ear which looked like a glove so not what I was going for but think I can get away with one layer of felt for ears which means less sewing.

The fic Muse has carried on firing bunnies at me. Posted two, one to type up, one to finish & one in my head! Shame, it's not for fandoms people in fandom stocking want!

I try not to stress, but when it comes to writing, I have a fear of not finishing. I don't want to be that person who starts things and never finishes them... and yet, here I am, with one multichaptered story I began 10 years ago under a second author name, switching between squeeing over new ideas, going for months without activity, and kicking myself for not being done by now. And let's not forget the new multichaptered story I started last year that I'm 3/4 through, or the one fic idea that's been stewing in my brain for 20 years, or the five other one shots in progress (and have been these last several years).

SETTLE ON SOMETHING, BRAIN, FFS. SERIOUSLY.

I've just gotten through a pretty damn emotionally draining portion of the NMCF (new multichaptered fic... ha!), and I am just telling brain right now... you'd better not use this as an excuse to stop, people are invested, you are invested, gdi, cut it out, keep going, you know the ending, you know how to get there, so for once just let it happen and don't overthink it.
