Hope you feel better soon. Well done on the coding - massive achievement there and you're making progress on the rest too - that's good going!

It's fairly low on the to-do list atm admittedlu, mainly because of All The Bitterness [tm] (and you were there for that one so you know why), but maybe someday after I've shaken some of the other bugs out of my skull --

well, yes ;3~

I have 11,000 words on a story that's only supposed to be 10,000, max.

And there's still so much plot left to go.

Ay, me.

At least the wordin' is happening!

Well done on so many words (but ouch! for it being too many, that's a shame - how strict is the limit?)

Thanks!

Relatively strict. They've let me fudge the limit by 100 words or so in the past, but more than that they'll want to treat it as a novella instead of as a short story.

I'll fix it in editing. Which reminds me! This link went around Tumblr not long ago: Hemingway app, a tool to help you pare down your writing. It may come in handy for people who are too verbose, as I tend to be.

Under the weather due to dental surgery and lingering pain *sniffle*

but despite that I've had a much better writing week.

Setting my personal deadlines a few days before these two fics are actually due for the challenges in question.
I managed to get some work done on the 'big' fic due on March 20th, but it's still proving to be a difficult one and a real block to the flow of words.

Then I got lured in to the Cap_ironman Rev big bang and well, signed up, have already started planning and writing - 1,400 words of planning... 3,600 words of writing in 3 days! That has a deadline of April 20th. I'm currently hoping that by getting the words flowing again, I'll then be able to turn back to the fic that's stalling me and it will then flow easier - this is a worry deadline wise though.

So this week I guess I had a fit of crazy and and hauled out just over 7200 words. Which means the handwritten draft of the first biggish thing is finished at just shy of 15k (14,913 to be exact).

Now I'm taking a breather and occupying myself with game tinkerings and maybe some drabbles (Fire Emblem? Xenogears? Saint Seiya? something anyway) for a while to give my neurons a cooldown.

Wow, that's a great total for the week. resting the neurons for a few days is a good idea.

I definitely need a bit of recharge though --!

...you said the magic words to summon me right now.

(It was Xenogears. I'm replaying it and drowning in feelings.)

1) Double-checked one manuscript and sent it back to author.

2) Continued to edit new manuscript.

3) Transcribed and did first edits on critiques of two chapters of a book; the chapters will be divvied up and posted over the next five weeks. (That's 102 pages of work, not counting the additions of pics, vids, macros, songs and links.)

4) Submitted first critique to my co-critic and made corrections.

5) Sent the first corrected critique off to our beta.

6) Submitted second critique to my co-critic.

7) Wrote the Introduction to the start of the critique of the third book we'll be doing.

I got a lot done...but none of it was fandom writing or original writing. *sigh*

I wish I could say that I was editing my own work! But no. This were projects I was doing for work. I'm a freelance editor and currently unpaid reviewer (though I wish that I were getting paid for reviewing this series), and both things take time.

I am glad that I got those projects out of the way, though. That's a relief.

Well, if you have to do all that for work, I'm not surprised you don't have much energy left over for writing! I hope next week is better for you.

It was a reasonable week for me -- 2200 words over three WIPs, with one chapter reaching completion.

I am anticipating a rather meagre word count this week as I downloaded Scrivener yesterday (after discussion here a couple of days ago -- thanks [personal profile] lassarina!) so now I'm importing a lot of my multi-chapter WIPs and playing around with it. I have to say that it's paid off already -- I've been able to shuffle scenes around and re-block a couple of chapters very easily using corkboard/outliner view. It won't replace Excel entirely for me but it's a very good additional tool.

Excellent!

(Every multi-chapter fic I've written in the past 3 years has relied on using Scriv as an organizer/outliner/planner/catch-all for stray bits of scenes: glad to hear it's working for you as well. *g* )

I'm slowly plodding away at the next thing on my list. It's one of the 'I just want it gone' things, so I'm having to really push myself just to open the text file and pull out my notes. I wrote a whole 300 words on it today *sigh* But it's forward motion, another scene down, and I can see the end. Another 2-3 scenes and it should be (hopefully) sorted.

In other news, wee baby bunnies goddamn everywhere r/n. and growing up fast every time my mind wanders. Nooooooooo!

I made significant headway on something I really need to finish, and managed to map out a new fic (*headdesk*) because I caught a serious case of nostalgia-feels. You never truly grow out of the fandoms you had at 16, apparently.

I did make a little progress on one of my games too.

I made a fishing minigame.

I'm part of the problem.
