There is nothing wrong with keeping all your bunnies, of course, but it is also okay to let go. We all grow and change and moving on is a thing that happens.

I managed to finish a fic that I’ve been working on for about a year. Finally! For the non-fiction writing...I have a deadline on the 30th followed by another on the 4th, and I’m staring at my word document and wondering why every word feels like torture.

I got the pinch-hit I was working on done, although it was slow-going, getting a little bit done each day over four days :'D

I'm now working on the piece I was stuck on, which I want to get done today! I meant to get something started last night, but it was instead two and a half hours of practice sketches to figure out and get the pose right (by the tenth, I think I got it down) :'D

Nothing much to report, except the Sobek devotional is now a properly formatted manuscript. We're in the final stages of proofing now, which is where I wanted to be before Camp begins, so I've got some clear air for writing fic instead. There's an mpreg challenge over at story_works atm, and I want to do that for Camp, to use up one of the old bunnies that never really worked in one of my old fics, but has been nagging at me ever since. So it'll be nice to get that one done and out of my head. Though it might end up as a series of fics, because I don't want this to end up a novel. I think it will work better as a series of shorter fics instead.

I've also had some conversations with someone who discovered some of my old fic, and I gotta say, I am sometimes tempted to go back and finish those old WIPs. They were some fun universes to play in. I think I am enjoying revisiting them more than I would have fun finishing them. I can let them go. That's okay. But it is so nice to have someone discovering a fandom I first discovered a decade ago. It's energising.

Yeah. It's a little sad to think "this was fun and I still care about it but I'm never going to return to it"...but liberating, too! And there's a particular pleasure in re-reading one's old stuff, finished or not.

(I was recently re-listening to an old Garrison Keillor monologue in which he said, "and as for a duck hunter not liking to eat duck, I don't know of many authors who sit around and read their own stuff"...which is totally not true of me! :) )

Sooo. Still on my art for Small Fandom Bang. But it's fine.

I'm waiting impatiently for Camp to finish my trope bingo line.

Otherwise, I just added a reading challenge for 2018 to my to do list. Basically, 60 categories = 60 books/comics, etc.
I won't read the 60 books, or even 15 books by the end of the year since I take it as a low-pressure challenge. I just really want to go back to reading (and finish all those books I stopped reading at one point and put a dent in the books I bought and never read).
Hopefully, I can do it (I'm lowballing it at 1 book/month so I'll read at least 9 books by the end of the year)

I've posted 2 fics off my bunnies list :) And so far have successfully resisted acquiring any new ones :D

This week I'm hoping to finish one more bunny because during Camp NaNo in April I will be focusing on prepping for NaNo in Nov.

I wrote a decent amount of Hipster WIP, then got distracted by a tumblr gif and wrote a little something for it (not finished, alas, or I could just post it and be done). So, steady progress.

WIP Big Bang is coming up and I'm going to do #2 on my bunny list for that. Which was sort of my plan to do next anyway, so that works out nicely. :)

I managed to get some preliminary work done for a few projects of mine. They're just changing the lyrics of existing songs to fit the ideas I had. Unfortunately those "ideas" are just adapting lyrics to new fandoms/fandom related concepts, a completed one is posted to my journal here at Dreamwidth. But hey, it's something, right? In other news, I have two lyric rewrites I'm flip-flopping on whether to do them or not. One of those ideas is just twisted in concept, and another is spoiling some big plot twists for the series it's based on, so...

Monday was a new experiment for me, called "Feathering the Nest," to promote stories with nonsexual intimacy. Starting Monday morning, I wrote 13,582 words to 4pm Wednesday. My goal is to write another 2k words today, which will bump the average to 5K words a day.

That added thirteen cards to my story box, one of which was posted as a freebie, and six of which are the solid basis of a short (1500 word range) story, each. (That's six future posts!)

Of the remaining six pieces, I can lace two of them together with the current story I've been working on, which makes me feel great about both the success of the prompt call, and my ability to work WITH my current, much longer draft.

Wrote and posted a couple of drabbles over the weekend, but not much else. I'm still doing a lot of overall organization and getting things in one place, which right now includes copying over an old plotbunny notebook and I love so many of these ideas and need to get back to them. ^^;;

Unfortunately I'll probably lose some of the weekend because my midnight-shift-self has to work a dayshift Friday for the holiday and that'll probably nuke my sleep til next week. (I'll just aim for April being a clean slate, ha!)

I have not even started a poem that I wanted to write this month, because it's a necessary finale to two others already written. *headdesk* And the next Poetry Fishbowl will be on Tuesday, April 3 so that's basically the deadline. Blargh.

I'm glad this community exists! I have five in-progress short stories and one novel length project spread across four different fandoms (Star Wars, Disney, Hammer Horror, and Crimson Peak). My writing life has gone haywire over the past month, but I am going out of town for a long weekend and hope to get some writing done. My trouble is: I don't know which project to choose! I like to stay in a consistent headspace when I work on a project (such as the Victorian era or the Star Wars Universe), so I tailor the books I read and the movies and TV I watch accordingly. Hope I can get myself to decide by tomorrow!
