Hi! Welcome to
onedeadplotbunny 2018! There's a basic FAQ on the profile page, but if you have more specific questions, feel free to ask them here.
If you're joining at a time that's not early February, that's okay! You can join at any time, post at any time, etc. Go through the archives at your own pace and don't feel stressed. There is no 'catching up' to do.
This is a motivation/support community first and foremost. I don't want anyone to ever feel bad about their backlog/signups/whatnot. I don't want anyone to feel that they have to clear out their backlog instantly, or anything like that. I don't want anyone feeling too stressed, even though there might be a few tasks in the beginning that can be stressful. (And if you do get stressed, slow down, take your time, or modify the task to what works for you.)
Whatever you're working on, or whatever you want to get back to...
You can do it! You really can.
Feel free to make an introduction post. Feel free not to. Feel free to ask for help unsticking a plot. Feel free to post resources. Feel free to post success! Feel free to commiserate (because sometimes you just need to wonder out loud why you sighed up for the XYZ Bingo again even though you've never written for a single square)... This is everyone's space.
Weekly check-ins, once we get on schedule for the year, will be ~Wednesdays. For the first couple weeks of the community, things tend to be pretty busy. Besides this post and our first activity, a lot of people choose to introduce themselves. You don't have to make an intro post, of course, just like you don't have to participate in activities, discussion, or check-ins. Or you can introduce yourself in June, if you'd like. It is all good.
This is the sixth year of
onedeadplotbunny on Dreamwidth, after a brief hiatus and a move from LJ (which I believe ran 2007-2009 or so). There was also a brief stint on Imzy while it existed.
While the community is generally geared towards written fiction, non-fiction, art, multimedia, etc. are all welcome.
I'm
kalloway, and I'll fill in this space with the rest of the mod-team for 2018 as soon as I have confirmation~

Date: 2018-02-04 04:43 pm (UTC)would it be alright for me to participate if my plot bunny list is more of a nebulous "DO THINGS DAMMIT" area, and my bunnies don't exactly have a plot? And often aren't much fannish?
I'm trying to get more serious about illustration, and in desperate need of an accountability system. :/ I used to do mutual accountability pacts with friends, but I'm sorely lacking co-sufferers right now.
I've been following the comm since June, and even reading the check-in post was pretty motivating. But I don't want to be too ~tangential~ to everyone else, if you know what I mean. "She doesn't even go there", etc. :D

Date: 2018-02-04 05:30 pm (UTC)One is a tongue-in-cheek parody of Chicken Soup for the Soul, and the other one is something of a stream-of-consciousness M/M packed with dark humor, angst, and various interactions with other humans.
I'm kicking my butt into finishing them BOTH because I am completely sick to death of not having even one finished original novel to my name. This ends now! RAH!!! I don't tend to succeed when I force myself into a schedule, or I force myself to adhere to a long plot line. If I feel like I'm in chains doing anything, especially something I love, I nope like crazy and walk away.
I'm finding a lot of success in writing chapters that are each individual and loosely interconnected short stories, though. I've got the attention span for that, which is exciting! I've been practicing writing like that in the South Park fandom since September, as almost all of my Creek fics reference other ones I've written, despite most of them being stand alone stories. They're stand alone plotwise, yet are interconnected in my mind's sandbox, if that makes sense? I guess another way of putting it is that I'll be writing chapters of an episodic nature. Keeps it fresh to do it that way, I've noticed. I can't concentrate well enough to write everyday (yet) so I find doing something like this helps a lot. I'm not entirely sure if that little blurb there made much sense, but that's the lion's share of what to expect from me in terms of writing these days.

Date: 2018-02-07 01:04 pm (UTC)...And then I realized, hey, I know you. XD
Anyway, a tongue-in-cheek parody of Chicken Soup of the Soul is pretty much brilliant. Best of luck getting those original novels done!

Date: 2018-02-04 06:05 pm (UTC)--current WIP, posting as I go: hipster AU
--time travel Victorian Farm
--'Jeremy needs a hug'
--the one about the poetry where I am definitely not writing any of the poetry
--a fic for every GT episode series (which I probably won't finish, but at least I can do some of them)
The first four of these are stupid long, which is going to be... fun... :D

Date: 2018-02-05 03:17 pm (UTC)Most of the bunnies I had on my list last year are still there, still waiting, watching me with sad eyes and making me feel awful every time I look at the list. *sigh* Thing is, I still want to write them, so I keep them. I like them a lot, it's just that I have a hard time writing with family issues and stress and job problems and financial disasters...
I have a fic going that I have to finish Feb 14th at the latest. I can do it! If I just write what I managed today - 150-some words - every day until then, it will be done!

(I'm probably not going to get anything done for Season-of-Kink again, alas, unless a miracle happens this weekend.)

Date: 2018-02-06 10:22 am (UTC)I've got some partially complete stuff hanging around from uhhhh over a decade ago, but I also have rapidly breeding bunnies in my current fandom, so I'm hoping this will help me keep them in check.

Date: 2018-02-07 08:41 am (UTC)My list for this year:
- write more parts to my Alphas series
- get further on my Smallville AU WIP (which, should I finish it, would be longer than my already-posted fic)
- sign up only for these five exchanges: Chocolate Box (already written), Everywoman, Genex, AUex, and Yuletide (though I reserve the right to make an exception should there actually be something I could write for NoFM)
- finish my Flood AU WIP
- maybe write another fic for my Push series
- maybe write more on my X-Men movieverse AU fic
Argh, decisions. I have too many I want to get further on, and I don't think I'll manage all of them. It would be nice to finish one, but finding time to work on it and betas who are on when I am for brainstorming/chatting purposes… We shall see.

Vid bunnies. They've taken over my hard drive with all their clips.
And also for a multimedia bingo card I signed up for in 2017 in a moment of weakness.

Oh, and my name's Jamie; it's nice to meet y'all, and may you have good luck too.
