Weekly Check-in!

Hello, it is time for another weekly check-in! How's everyone doing this week?

This is a bit late, because my life has been taken over by Tiny Niece and birthdays and Easter, and this week has been way too busy. But if I have achieved anything in the last week, it is finally finishing the Pasithea's City draft, so now it runs from beginning to end. :D Now I just need to finish the other two novels. I may not get all three done this year, but Camp NaNo will help me get a chunk of work done I wouldn't otherwise do, so that's better than nothing.

Mostly, I have been doing world-building and working out timelines, which I needed to do in order to keep on writing. With three novels all converging into the same timeline, I really did need to sit down and figure out how they all fit together, and what I need to work on next, so at least I'll have somewhere to go now that that's out of the way. I do not recommend trying to reconcile three different calendars based on three different methods (Gregorian, stellar, lunar), it is an exercise in yelling at ancient Greeks for not using a more consistent calendar system.

I have a few other things I still want to work on, little chaptered bits and pieces I still need to finish, but nothing is set in stone for this weekend. Tiny Niece is coming over on Sunday, so there will be one more weekend of busy-ness before my life is back to normal. I still have managed about 8.6k for Camp NaNo so far, which I'm pretty happy with, all things considered.

I've been working on different things, a little at a time here and there. It doesn't seem like it's a lot getting done since it's all scattered, but my combined word counts say otherwise. :)

Wow, that sounds like an intriguing and ambitious project (3 linked novels)!

Last week, I rough-drafted one of the two "companion" podfics for my Big Bang podfic project. I don't think I wrote any words at all (well, outside of my day job), but I did ponder some logistical issues in the outline of my Big Bang fic project, and decided on some new stuff...which means I'm gonna have to scrap and rewrite an existing scene, removing an element that I was really fond of. But now it makes more sense!

I feel for you - timelines are SO HARD. I've had to do a lot of that for my story and although I think it's under control now as I get close to the end, it did take me ages.

This week I have been writing fight scenes, fight scenes, and more fight scenes. Which is definitely not in my comfort zone. I'm afraid that they all sound a bit same-y but I've decided not to worry about that until I see what my beta thinks.

I got stalled on the fic I've been calling Monster Point Two, since it's a sequel to Monster Point One, of course. *laughs* I set it aside to work on something a little less angsty, and that seems to be knocking some of the bunnies loose, so I'm hoping to get back to the Monster shortly.

Trying to reconcile three different calendars sounds exhausting.

As for me, Camp NaNo is going pretty well overall - I'm a little bit ahead - but I've mostly been writing poetry rather than trying to finish my existing stories. So, that's a little bit great, and a little bit not.

But at least I've been thinking about how to approach my ongoing stuff, which is better than nothing. And since everything is closed this weekend, I might very well get around to slapping some words down, now that I know where to take some of these things.

It is the actual worst, I do not recommend it. I'm just glad I'm not writing historical fiction, so I can fudge around the dates until they work, because lunar calendars are like that. It's still a pain in the butt, though.

Well, any writing is better than nothing. Good work on being ahead! I haven't written anything useful for about a week, so I'm determined to get something done tonight before bed. I've been doing a lot of thinking, too, and I really needed to get the timeline done so I could proceed. It's useful work, but it does sometimes feel unproductive - I'd rather be writing!

I finished my New Year's Resolution fic \o/ I've been working on it since the end of January.

I finished two fics! One of them just needed another round of edits and the other just needed a couple of typos fixing, but it feels like I've achieved something (finally!).

I'm working on a serialized novel, doing rewriting and posting each chapter as I finish them.

The most recent chapter is a Big Plot Thing, and I've been looking forward to the rewriting of it for a while.

I did the rewriting bit this week, and I really, really like it. I'm going to post it in a few days. And the next chapter is almost ready to go, too, which makes me very happy indeed.

I made good progress on writing at the start of the month, but as my job become very busy starting from this week, I've adjusteced my campnanowrimo word goal accordingly.

I have finished my assignment, so I can deal with my wip and my gen bingo card at a more leisured pace. I've also finished the revision of a long fic based on my beta's suggestion, so it's some progress.

I, uh, sort of signed up to run a 35-person LARP so I suspect that is going to do unhappy things to my bunny list progress....

especially since there was none of it this week anyway. *sigh*

I made two deadlines this week, so that is a win, as well as two fewer stories on my plate.
