Snuck in and kept adding little bits to and polishing my pinch hit ( and happily this one was pretty well received.)

Have not yet started on the next chapter of the WIP, but spent a good chunk of today combing through and Scrivenering my notes on the final 10 chapters.

Just drafted another chapter of my fanfiction. Been trying to work on an original piece for days, but I've been feeling a little stuck and then the fanfiction grabbed me.

I am probably about four or five chapters away from finishing this story.

Do you think switching to the fanfic for a bit will allow you to see the original piece with fresh eyes?

I'm not sure. Sometimes I do have to step away from projects and come back later, which helps.

I find sometimes too that certain new ideas will just sprawl all over my brain and nag me til I get at least some of them down.

I have made no writing progress. metanews and various health related appointments are eating my life.

I did try FFA (several times) to see if I could find a beta reader there, but nobody's willing. None of the people who've posted looking for beta readers have found one, so it's not just my fic being squicky.

On the good news side-- A couple of different people have made podfic for two of my short fics. I'm beyond thrilled, but I've been afraid to listen to them. I've never listened to podfic before, and I'm not sure that hearing my own words won't be weird.

What fandom, for the beta?

Harry Potter darkfic. It's divergent, going AU in the middle of Half-Blood Prince. The war went on for about seven years. Voldemort is absolutely and definitely dead, but everybody who survived (and a lot of people didn't) has gone at least a little bit dark (and possibly a lot dark) while mostly thinking they haven't. Specifically, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are no longer nearly as nice as they were in canon.

There's eventual explicit non-con (there are also a lot of references to it going on off screen) and dub-con (the person involved in that has the power to stop things but doesn't want to reveal that she has that power).

Basically, it's dark enough to be unappealing for a lot of people.

I'm looking for plot brainstorming more than SPaG (though that is welcome, too!). I'm also looking for help in spotting the points where what I've written doesn't fully add up. I write by the seat of my pants, so I'm constantly throwing things in that I haven't thought through completely.

I wish I could help, but I haven't read the Harry Potter books since the last one came out. Good luck with finding a beta, though!

Eventually, I'll find someone who knows the fandom, doesn't object to the dark content, and isn't in the middle of offline life things that take too much time.

Though I must confess that I haven't read the books since they came out, either. I'm relying on my memory, fan resources, and having read a fair amount of fic.

Busted out like 40k words in a week to finish my camp nano projects (editing comes later) while also doing video projects and all sorts of other crazy stuff for classes + working a billion hours.

I think if I had the time every day, I could knock out 4k-6k per day for three or four days each week and use the other days for planning. But alas, too many other commitments.

But when I buckle down, yeah, I can do crazy-mazing numbers.

Finished editing a manuscript. Currently working on ficathon story before I start double-checking edits and spelling, then on to first passthrough of a second manuscript. (I've already seen and edited the second one, so now I have to see what changes the author has made. I am tired.

Have signed up for ASOIAF Big Bang (due December 1) and Apocalyptothon 2015 (due July 22), and have made some nominations for Everywoman 2015 (deadlines as yet unstated, but the minimum is 500 words). Considering signing up for Remix Redux 15 (signups end on May 17, stories due on June 21)--because this year, they aren't using qualifying fandoms, so I might actually be able to participate for the first time ever! But I have to get the current story done first.

I am still working on rewrites for the novel I started in February. The rough draft was about 30K words; the current version is about 70K. I figure it's going to be about 80K when it's all done.

My "submit the 4 trunk novels" plan has gone all to pieces, but considering how in love with this story I am, I'm okay with that.

I've signed up for a Finish Your WIPs big bang, too, and so at some point I've got some actual fic to finish.
