Welp, I missed the first actual check-in because sometimes I'm a dumbarse, so this covers two weeksish.

In which I managed ~11.5k words and then wrangled those and original many k's of words into a final polish and format and sent off the first 50 pages to a local indie publisher where I will get rejected, but it's the principle of the thing. (there was also a 5-page synposis. I think my neurons are still burning with hate for synopses. -_-)

Picked up two new fic(let) ideas courtesy of helpful folks, need to get to those and some other things; but I've mostly been letting my brainpan drain after manuscript insanity and scribbling worldbuilding ideas in a notebook.

... And now I'm spinning hilariously uneven silk yarn instead of any of the above because it's nice on my nerves and that I'm finding this easier than my wools is kind of also hilarious.

Downtime and other projects are good for brainpan draining, which is definitely a thing everyone needs now and then. *snugs*

I honestly... wasn't home last week. Every evening was some sort of event or other (school, dinner out, small friendly gathering, school...) and this week I'm working a swing-shift. And I had two tests in school last night so a chunk of the weekend went to those (and a take-home portion) ^^;;

I did manage to write a last-minute fic for seasonofkink after a couple false starts because I just kept picking characters who were not feeling kinky and were instead staring at me blankly.

Also, filled the wild card spot on my one genprompt_bingo card so if I can get this Tekkaman Blade II ficlet done (half-done, longhand) by the end of the month, holy crap, an actual bingo!

I am looking forward to actual time to write. I have the ideas and I think I know what comes next.

Yaaay for filling in fic spots though! Is the ideas for the genprompt thinger or a different one?

It always sucks when there just isn't enough time, no matter how willing your muse is. Hope the next week is better for you =)

New job starting last week means that I am suddenly very productive but also have to learn how to balance my time differently. Which is kind of tough.

Unfortunately starting a new job RIGHT AS the rarepair battle I wanted to participate in started means that any bandwidth I have for it goes toward modding it and not writing for it...

I've been mostly counting reviews and essaying toward verbosity/GYWO instead of fiction which sucks and means I don't have much to report here.

However I'm now chomping at the bit to write fic for Orange is the New Black and Jupiter Ascending since I finished both over the weekend...

Which doesn't help the problem of finishing my current plot bunnies at all .....

I've been able to check off one of the bunnies on my little list of the year, since it's finished and posted, and, the other night, I managed to finish the draft for a Bleach-fic that I started years ago, but didn't have time to finish before I soured on the source material (damn Kubo and your near-killing of Byakuya! *shakes fist*). So, that is with my beta now... I hope to get it back soon so I can edit and polish it and have it done! Because the world needs more tentacle fic.

Tonight I have writerly meetup online, so I'll try to pick another bunny and see if I can't start writing. :)

I decided not to submit the TV pilot for the Sundance Fellowship this year. It just isn't ready. I'll work on it during the year and have it ready for the next round.

Last week I lost my job on Wednesday and my stepfather died on Friday. It's been an interesting time at our house.

But all this newfound free time has led to me writing over 19,000 words since the 12th, between applying for jobs and memorial preparations. I can't remember the last time a story flowed so easily.

It always feels like a mixed blessing when something awful can lead to more productivity in other areas.

Sometimes I feel like the moments when I'm at my saddest are the moments when I have most clarity in my writing. It's weird how it works that way.

I wrote nothing! I've been prioritizing almost everything but writing. Nevertheless, I signed myself for a laidback challenge. I hope that works out well.

I broke through massive writer's block to get back to this project and wrote a little more than 1k words of it. But now I think they'll come easier. Finally.

In the last two weeks, I've gotten to one plot bunny on my large list, but I have also tackled two small chapters of one of my larger fics in two days (I'm on a roll?! YAY?!). My word count posted and none posted averages around 5k all together. I've tackled a couple of drabbles that slipped up out of nowhere and got them posted.

Even with 60+ hours of work in a week that I have between two jobs, and being sick this past week with a sinus infection, I feel more capable of tackling things. I feel that just in the simple organization of what I want to write alone has helped out.

(Also picked up another journal the other day to write in while bouncing between work places. *cough cough*)

I successfully finished my pt_lightning fic, and it is now ready for podding! So that is one good thing. (Unfortunately, when I sent it to my sister to read over, she was like, "It's great, but so short. Could use like 50,000 words of development.", so although the short version is being used now, I can see a place in the future for a much longer spin-off. Oops.)

I still have genprompt_bingo to work on. I don't think I've filled in a square yet. I will get there...

Not doing so good this week! Totally failed to write anything for most of the week, though I did manage around 800 words of a fest entry that's due at the end of next month. So--progress! I'll take anything I can get, I suppose!

This week is pretty exciting in terms of writing, though. I'm going to the second meeting of a new local writing group I've joined this Friday. We're finally getting down to exercises this week so that should be fun. Then on Saturday I have a half-day writing convention, with a session on short stories and another on submissions and manuscripts. Hopefully it'll give me even more motivation to churn out some words!

I'm making a little bit of progress on my Death Note fanfic and on one of my music projects... It's been rough though, at work. It's been really cold out!

I intend to write more or try to finish the original experimental instrumental I'm probably halfway done on by next weekend.
