Intro Post

Hello all! I'm Shadow and I am mostly a fanfiction writer, although I occasionally do original stuff when the fancy strikes me. Right now, I write mostly for Discworld, although I consider the canon to be so sacred (i.e. these characters are bloody difficult to write) I haven't written very much.

I'm not much of a procrastinator, but I get distracted easily. My main problem is that I find it difficult to be active in more than one fandom, so all my old WIPs for old fandoms fall to the wayside. Looking back, I have some really awesome (if I do say so myself) WIPs that I know people would love if I could only complete them and put them up.

I have a list of them, along with other challenges I need to do, here. I do not know if I have time for most of them though, especially since this year is when I have two very big and very important exams, but hopefully I can at least finish my high-pressure challenges with minimum injury.

I'm looking forward to having my arse kicked buttock prod, and prodding the buttocks of others!

Intro post

My name is Alassenya and I'm a procrastinator (I get it honestly, my dad was a champion at it).

I have 29 stories in my WIPs folder, dating back to 2004. That's not counting the three that I now consider officially abandoned (luckily none of them was posted). I used to write solely in the LOTR fandom but I've branched out a lot in the last few years.

I like to work on two or three stories at a time -- that way, when the words dry up for one I can switch to another. I try to write 500 words a day but my job is exhausting and I don't often manage it. I love Excel (in fact I've been accused of having an unhealthy emotional relationship with it) and have a spreadsheet for every multi-chapter story, plus several meta-spreadsheets to keep track of common background issues, timelines, total words etc. I find that pushing word totals to the next hundred or thousand is one of my best motivators, so I keep the relevant spreadsheet open whenever I'm writing.

I think that a weekly check-in will be a big help, which is why I'm joining.

Introductory post

Hello, I'm [personal profile] misslucyjane and this is my Big List of Next. Among the anthology submissions and too many novel ideas for one lifetime, I've also got a novella I promised my publisher ... three years ago? I think? and a screenplay I've been working on, off and on, mostly off, for almost seven years.

I've been writing fanfic since I was a kid, publishing it online since 1996, and publishing professionally since 2007. I don't write a whole lot of fanfic anymore, since I'd rather spend my free time on stuff I get paid for--and I don't have a whole lot of fanfic ideas anymore. I'd rather play with my own toys.

I joined [community profile] onedeadplotbunny because I'm kind of unmotivated for everything right now, and it's really awful. I've had a rough couple of years and I think that's a very large part of it, but I still have all these stories I want to write and want to submit. I just can't get myself to actually work on them. I come home from the day job and look at Tumblr until bedtime, basically. I'm a longtime member of [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout and it's been very helpful most years, but last year I fell way, way, way short of my goal and I'm worried this year is going to be much the same, despite my best goals and intentions.

So, motivation. Yes, please.
