Make a list.

Of every fic/art/icon/whatever bunny you have that you would like to write/create sometime in the foreseeable future. This includes bingo cards, big bangs, comment fics, exchanges, random plotbunnies, sequels, etc.

Detail it if you want to. You can be as vague as you like. No one ever has to see your list but you.

Do it either in your own journal or in a notebook or in the comments or whatever. I usually find one of those blank notebooks I bought with high hopes and then never quite found the words to put in it. They're really good at holding lists.

You can organize however you'd like - ficlets together, epics together, or by fandom, or by what they're for... But one list, in one place.

Take your time. Look through old notebooks, textfiles, e-mail, journal entries... Round up everything.

And hang onto that list. You'll need it.

(I am a 'sense of accomplishment' person, so I'll list even individual chapters on separate lines. Putting a check-mark beside 'Exciting Space Adventures Chapter 7' feels good, even if I'm immediately adding 'Exciting Space Adventures Chapter 8' to the list.)

I do this regularly anyway. I call them "hutch posts". *g* This is as good a time as any for a new one!

In fact, it might be helpful to me if I posted a list of certain bingo prompts I'm staring at, and see if anyone else here has ideas (within my fandoms) to throw at them. Would that be best done in a comment, or a post to the community?

I have a list (pitiful as it is, which is also kind of sad), and I'm torn between whether actually posting it would help me do something with it, or would just make me chew off my own arm like a beastie in a trap because I'm me and guilty anxiety attacks is how I roll these days.

Your list is your list is your list. It's not a good list or bad list, it just is. Instead of being a list of things you have to do or need to do, it's a list of things you'd like to do (so don't attach any guilt or anxiety).

You can think about posting it/not posting it for as long as you'd like. Mine just stays in a notebook, after all.

I can at least say that yes, these are things I would like to do. It's that slippery trap into 'have/need' that I'm bad for these days, the gods only know why. *facepalms*

I keep thinking about doing this, all my fanfic plans and vids (which I rarely vid, it's hella hard work for me compared to other medium), and graphics, and original fic and you know, ALL the bingo and other prompts/challenges. I do it in my head and I get to maybe 10 or 20 items and freeze up in panic. It seems so overwhelming!

Maybe I should write a shortlist of 5 things I really want to do at some point, and 5 things I want to do soon (and am easily capable of doing so). The way I tackle other huge projects, like just filing ten items from my downloads folder or reading and reviewing just three fanfics from my To Read list :)

The smaller-lists version is how I do housework, actually. A big list can definitely be overwhelming, though remember it's not things you have to do, it's things you want to do at some point. Less like a chore list and more like a list of places you want to visit someday. ^_^

Definitely go with the list option that works for you.

I'm glad you're already keeping track of your projects. Do you rearrange by interest, due dates, or just general/random thoughts?

A combination of the two. When I'm making it I try to figure how long I'll need to write however many words and when things are due, and then fit in submission goals for non-due date stuff. Most of my writing is intended for publication, so things like word count and due dates play a big part in scheduling my year.

My ever expanding list, oh my God. (There is a reason that my keyword for that icon is "I need a drink"....)

And I just realised that there is at least one thing that isn't on that list and should be. So I'm going to go edit that in. Plus my current bingo card. And there are possibly loads of prompts I haven't put in. And then maybe I'll add some stuff to show what stage they are all at...

Right that's a project.

(And there's a reason I give a week and insist everyone takes their time - it very much can be a project unto itself just getting the list assembled.)

I keep making lists, and then never look at them again! LOL I like what you've said in comments that it should not be a list of must do (guilt), but a list of want to do. I'll throw off the old old bunnies from fandoms I'm not in anymore and that I know I won't ever go back to. :) I think they're beyond dead anyway! LOL

So, new list! (And the bunnies I did have for the Penisy Kinks Bingo last year will go on in too, because I want to write them even if the deadline is gone and done!)

And in future weeks, we'll do some list-pruning, too. It's okay to let go~ Especially if the bunny is dead, mummified and on its way to the afterlife.

(I still carry my card around - I want to write my Penisy Kinks fics so badly and I just keep not getting to them. Let's pretend there wasn't a deadline?)

Oh, I like the sound of list-pruning! I have a bunch that are more like premise-bunnies, and I should probably take a look at them too and see if I can either turn them into proper plot-bunnies, or if I have to let them go.

(Hahaha! I even forgot at first to post that the deadline had come and gone, so it was a month late! But I plan to make a new Penisy Kink Bingo round this year! Just need to make some planning for it and organize it more properly. In the meantime, we can still play with our old cards. *grin*)

Actually, I just recently wrote a short list of incomplete stories that I really, definitely want to work on soon. But maybe a longer list of everything I kind of wish I'd finished would be good too.

I actually have a googledoc I use for dumping plot bunnies, but when I opened it just now to see what I've got, I decided I don't like a single one of them. So I probably need to rethink what I want to write in the future, if my mojo ever comes back.

You definitely get to decide what you do/don't want to work on. If those plotbunnies have expired on their own, it's time to let them go.

I'm a list-maker, but this has made me realise that I don't have one for all those semi-abandoned and one-day-I'll-finish-it projects.

I don't have anything decades old, but there's a 2-3 year old almost-finished, I'm-not-even-in-the-fandom-anymore that NEEDS to go on it.

The other stuff is current-fandom things in danger of falling into abandonment as bright shiny bunnies come upon me.

I'm going to make my list today :D

Good luck with your list! I'm a list-maker myself, because otherwise I bounce around too much and can't settle on anything. Maybe just rounding up your projects will inspire you to work on one~

Made my list. It's a whole 4 WIP's long. A three year old thing from a fandom I don't really care for now but the WIP is an AU of one of my other fics in that fandom that remains close to my heart. I think I've only got one scene to write and it's done O.O So hard to go back to characters you've all but let go of, though.

Then there's a year old thing from my current fandom. Then there's a buffyverse thing that's only a few months untouched but because it's not my main fandom and there aren't the readers clamouring for updates it has the potential to be pushed aside. And the longer I leave it the less inclined I'll be to go back.

The last thing isn't very old at all, but I'm so over it and it needs to be done so I can move on :)

ETA: all 4 of my WIP's are currently still posted. I don't pull anything, even abandoned fic, so even the oldest is still up. I have countless unfinished fics on my hard drive, but I'm not so concerned about them, so didn't put them on the list. My WIP folder works well as a list for those ones (and it's sizable lol).

I tried making a list last night when I couldn't sleep - I got to 50!!! and scared myself so stopped writing things on the list. I have a smaller more general list that says due dates for fics with deadlines and lumps smaller bingo type challenges into groups - saying x fics of y words each by z date and then how many I've managed so far. It looks slightly less frightening than the broken down version!

Today was another day when I didn't get time to write though - it's already 11pm and I haven't finished my work preparation for tomorrow or ironed clothes to wear for work yet - which I'm off to do now.

I have about as many, but I'd say 80% are idle fantasies that will never see the light day.

Hi! I have a gazillion lists, but I made a new one (essentials, annotated). Because it might help to keep it all in one place.

There's a more comprehensive one here, where I'll store all my ideas.

I currently use a variety of services to store ideas or prompts, and have started last year to note down all of my ideas, just so that I don't forget them again. Some of them are five years old already, but I can't let them go completely.

If anyone is actually interested in any of them, please let me know. Some of the ideas will never get written, because I have no one to write them for.

My list is semi-complete at 736 listings (with 98 checkmarks from last year), but I have a pile of no_true_pair prompts not listed, dog_daies prompts not listed, and like three bonus bingo cards that I'm trying to more cross-reference than anything.

I'd say 2/3 of everything on the list could be written in stories of 1000 words or less - I really just need to sit down and work on everything.

I'm easily distracted by new fandoms and new ideas. I've made a resolution for myself this year not to sign up for any big bangs or bingo cards.
