Requestiong help with action scenes

I've got a story that's got a great start, strong on description and dialogue... and the plot just STALLS OUT.

Repeat X5-- or X10, today.

Please help. Mayday. SOS.

A specific setup-- I have two acquaintances who need to connect over working with a new skill. I know the skill. I can get them into the same place, get them talking... and then it stalls out. There's no development.

I'll take suggestions for interruptions, especially.

The instructor could give one of them a hard time over a mistake, or they could share a joke about the instructor's mannerisms.

One of them could make a mistake that produces interesting and unexpected results or that just makes both of them laugh.

They could disagree over the results they want.

One of them could have a medical emergency that the other has to help resolve, or someone else nearby could have a medical emergency and the two characters work together to help.

On the way to the class (or wherever they're learning), one of them finds an injured animal and ends up bringing it along for lack of other options.

You're amazing. I was in a "forest for the trees" loop-- they can EASILY disagree over the purposes for the skill as well as the results, but I wasn't THINKING of that for whatever reason.
