Oh, that's a good one! I actually do check for that in stories, but it comes so naturally to me that I didn't even think to put it on the list, ahaha. I've noticed that it's less of a problem recently because I have written more and more fic in present tense, but it was really a problem for me a while back.
I'm super loose on first drafts too, and even second ones. I usually have to distance myself a little bit from a fic before the unnecessary verbiage is apparent to me. So lucky to have beta readers who know what they're about XD
