Looking for brainstorming partner(s)

I want to write a story for John Michael Greer's No Space Bats challenge (reading the whole link isn't necessary; the fic bit is in the middle somewhere). (Reading any of it isn't necessary; it's *dense*, and most of the post is not about the fic challenge.)
Short version: Post-apoc origific story, set more than 1000 years in the future (by challenge rules); I want it to build on the also-unwritten one I started for the original challenge, which I set in the near future.
Base premise: a group of women decide to weather the apocalypse by setting up a healer/midwife community. They don't disdain helping men, but their focus is on women's health, esp reproductive health. Also, they're mostly bay-area pagan feminists. They're not "Free Amazons of Berkeley," but there's some similarity with that kind of approach.
Apocalypse is pretty much required to tie into peak oil collapse, as that's the blog theme; survival required not to contain "space bats" (aliens, vampires, teleportation machines, mutant powers, warp drive spaceships, angels, etc.) although some measure of sci-fi/supernatural elements are allowed.
I have some vague world ideas, much more for the near-fic story that I'd like to flesh out, and I want to brainstorm "what would the world be like, a thousand years from that?" Tried getting my husband's help; he finds the idea of a peak-oil collapse of society so implausible that he can't help figure out what could come after.
If you'd like to babble post-apoc ideas, PM me or reply here; I can't use chat programs at work (as far as I can tell) but could set up a google doc or something like that, or just have back-and-forth in comments if there's enough interest.
