Hi, all! I'm Melissa. Your typical, normal, everyday gal from New Jersey who's into vampires and has 100+ WIPs sitting on her HDD.
I've been writing pretty much from the time I was old enough to pick up a writing tool and spell my name. My first fanfic was a silly Knight Rider fic I wrote when I was about 6-7 (waaaaaay back in 1989).
I'd had a good run of writing stuff more regularly from 2000-2008, but suffering from then-undiagnosed major depressive disorder in 2009-2012 (I was hospitalized for it in August of 2012) kinda derailed everything in my life—including my writing, the one thing I've always loved to do. I've spent the time since then in counseling to work through my issues, and I'm on medication that helps even out my moods and un-fogs my head.
I've been wanting to get back on the writing-horse for awhile now and I need something to help keep my focus and my enthusiasm up for penning my pieces. I need the sense of accountability.
I had also lost a lot of my writing when an external drive crashed back in '08, so almost everything on my list is from 2009 onward.
My list of bright n' shiny WIPs is here.
For this year, I want to at least get my one-shot fanfics done, my poetry compilation up on Smashwords, and to FINALLY finish the restructuring of the original vampire novel I've co-written (so me and my co-author can begin shopping it to agents/pubs). I also hope to use the Camp NaNo months (April and July) to help me out with my goals.
There's still at least nine more months left in the year—I can do this! *deep breaths and shaking self out like a pro swimmer about to do the high-jump*
